Shasta Living

~ Welcome ~

Here I share stories and snapshots from my life in Far Northern California’s Shasta Cascade. The nature, the seasons, and the small‑town moments that make this place feel like home. We’re retired now, settling into a slower pace shaped by faith, family, and the steady rhythm of serving God. And somewhere between enjoying the beauty around us and keeping up with a house that always seems to need “just one more little fix,” we find plenty to laugh about. It’s a simple life, full of grace, gratitude, and the everyday charm of semi-small-town living.

My Corner of California

From My Shasta Home is my heartfelt tribute to this land. I wish to honor the original inhabitants of Wintu Country, where stunning volcanic peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and daily acts of neighborly kindness define this remarkable community.

Historically, the Shasta Cascade region was home to Native American tribes such as the Modoc, Maidu, Shasta, Wintu, and Yana. European-American exploration began in the 1820s and 1830s, with fur trappers and traders entering via the Siskiyou Trail. The discovery of gold in 1851 brought prospectors and led to early settlements in towns like Yreka, Weaverville, and Old Shasta.
