A Shasta Transplant

Eighteen years ago, we moved from the expensive Bay Area to Shasta County and haven’t looked back since. Tucked away in Far Northern California’s beautiful Shasta Cascade Region (Wintu Country), I feel truly fortunate to call this breathtaking place my home.

Home is where my loving husband, our mischievous yet charming cat Susie, and an empty goldfish pond reside. Just a short distance away, our adult children live close enough to raid my husband’s tool shed. Having them all nearby brings a warm sense of family to our retired life.

I enjoy local history, blogging, birdwatching in my yard, Bible studies, crafting, making my house feel like home, gardening, hiking, genealogy, historical research, and exploring God’s magnificent creation, which is so easy to appreciate here.

A sweeping panoramic photographic view of Mount Shasta rising snow-capped against a deep blue sky, captured from a wildflower-dotted meadow in the Shasta Cascade region. The foreground shows dew-kissed grasses, delicate purple lupine, and golden mule’s ears in crisp focus, while the distant pine forests fade softly toward the mountain. Early morning light casts a gentle, cool glow on the snowfields and creates long, subtle shadows across the meadow. The mood is serene and awe-filled, conveying the quiet grandeur of Far Northern California. Shot at eye level with a wide-angle lens, using sharp focus throughout for a sense of expansive space, in clean, naturalistic photographic realism suited to a professional Shasta living blog header.
